    Deinterlacing with Xmpeg 4.5

    Hi guys
i've been trying to rip some Xfiles episodes using Xmpeg 4.5 but never been able to find out how to deinterlace the right way.
Can someone help me? I need to know which is the best deinterlacing method, and if there's a way to understand wich is the best one from case to case.
    Thx

It seems that presently Xmpeg is not the best way for deinterlacing. Try rather the deinterlacing filters of Virtualdub as "smart deinterlace" or other

Or wait for the Xmpeg 5 version that is going to provide a better deinterlacing dixit the Xis team

just use gknot to encode and test both deinterlacing methods

gknot rules never go back to xmpeg, just wish i hadn't done those 200 movies with xmpeg

        Re: try virtualdub

Well, let's say that u convinced me. But now another problem raise...
how can I use virtualdub's deinterlacing filters if i compress with Xmpeg? Shall I recompress my video with virtuadub in order to deinterlce, or shall I use something like avisynt to pass the vobs to virtualdub?

        Thx

This comes recommended above all else. GordianKnot will make your life easier by automatically generating the Avisynth script and, if you prefer, automating the required tasks in order for you to get the final DivX file.
