    Need help to convert AVI

Hi, I bought myself a hardware DIVX decoder (sigma)

Thsi hardware decoder only can decode DixV 4+ but most movies are in DivX3 (this is what the AVI checker suplied with the card says).
Now I want to convert them to DivX4.

I tried the search allready and found a topic with the same subject, there it was said that virtualdub could do the job.

So I downloaded virtualdub and also Divx codex 3.22 and 4.1
I installed both codex and ofcource virtualdub.

I started virtualdub and tried to convert a divx, this without succes. It converted but in the same codex as it was.

Could someone explain me what I must do IN virtualdub to convert a file? I knowhere can find any setting that I can change so it concerts into divx 4.

I am a complete nOOb on DiVX converting.

Some help would be nice such as which setting must I change, where can I find the settings?!?!

Maybe someone knows a better and easier way to convert DivX 3 to 4.

    Thx...

    1. Open file in Virtualdub
    2. Set Video tab to Full Processing Mode and Audio tab to Direct Stream Copy
    3. Under Video tab, go to Compression and select DivX 5.02 (I recommend you use a more updated version than 4.x)
    4. This is one long topic. You can choose to use single-pass or 2-pass encoding. The first one takes only one pass and hence does not take as long as two-pass, which as the name suggests, takes 2 passes and hence twice as long as one-pass. However, two-pass encoding offers much better quality than single-pass (resulting in less loss of quality in your case). I suggest you read more on guides on using DivX 4.x/5.x to get a better understanding on this so you know what you need to do
    5. Go to File -> Save as AVI and give a name to the new AVI file

That should get you started. Have fun.
