    xvid freeze

I've got a movie which was encoded with xvid codec and it freezes up at certain point. not completely ,you know, picture stopped, sound kept going, then you fast foward it a little bit and continue watching the movie. I hate this so up till now whenever i encouter such a problem i fix it with a small program called avidefreezer. but i can't get it to work with xvid. avidefreezer crashes right away. so does anybody have any suggestions about how to handle this ; maybe i should use another program?

Try the ffdshow or ffmpeg playback filter

or change the avi4cc code of the xvid file to divx 5 (DX50) and thereby, use the divx 5 filter for playback.

ok i installed ffdshow and it doesn't freeze up any more (the picture gets distorted untill the next scene change but thats a couple of seconds). and by the way i looked at xvid fourcc changer and noticed that divx5 is not listed although i have 5.0.2 pro installed. any idea why?

You will have to manually type in "DX50"
