    Noob subtitle question

Ok I'm using gknot and I've just found my first movie that has subtitles in it.

I've tried reading the doom9 guide (which makes using subtitles easy) but for some reason when I go to configure and choose open to pick my subtitles all I get is one file, when I open it nothing comes up.

I'm guessing it's because I didn't actually rip the subs of the cd, which if that's the case then how do I rip them? I'm guessing I could use smartripper but I don't know what I'm looking for when it pulls up all the chapters and program angles.

Any help would be much appreciated

Firstly, you need to install Vobsub. Next, go to Subtitle tab in GK and configure the subtitle. Here, the GUI (if you can call that) for Vobsub is loaded and you will use it to extract the subtitle into one SUB and IDX files each. The SUB file will contain the subtitle texts (I figure the IDX file simply acts as a timestamp for the subtitle timing). Once you've done the extraction, you select the language of the subtitle you want displayed on the video. Then follow-up with the usual encoding procedure.

        Thanks for the reply!

I actually figured it out last night. I didn't realize there was a different file type I could choose from

I told you it was a noob mistake.
