Removing Subtitles

I want to know how to remove subtitles from movies, cuz I got German subtitles and I kinda don't read German.

If the subtitles are located on the black bars (for 16:9 movies), you can simply crop them away and recompress the video. However, if the subtitles are merged as part of the video, I'm afraid there is nothing you can do to remove the subtitles without adversely affecting the video itself (ie. there is no subtitle removal filter that will work 100% effectively, and they more often than not ruin the surrounding non-subtitle part).
