Help needed! Can not convert mpeg to avi using VirtualDub

I want using VirtualDub to convert mpeg file to avi. I use Dixv 5.02 codec. The problem is when I want to compress the audio to MP3. It always stop converting at frame 9995. I don't know why. If i don't convert the audio, it will successful. It happen everytime I want to change the audio compression. Can anybody tell me how to convert the audio. Thank you very much.

Have you tried extracting the audio to Uncompressed PCM (Wav)

1.Load file in VDub
2.Set audio tab to Full Processing Mode
3.Under compression select Uncompressed PCM
4.Save WAV...
5.Set Video tab to Full Processing Mode
6.Set up the codec
7.Under the audio tab select WAV audio, and open the saved wav.
8.Select the audiocompression.
9.Save AVI

Sounds like the oft' mentioned, infamous Creative Labs soundcard's .MP3 codec at work again.

1) If you don't already have another (besides the Creative one) .MP3 codec installed on your system, download and install the Radium (Fraunhoefer hack) .MP3 codec

2) In your Control Panel, select "Multimedia" and deactivate all .MP3 codecs EXCEPT the one that includes the word "Professional"

3) Reboot your system
