    DIVX to VCD

hello. i got a cd-r with the street fighter 2v episodes. the total episodes are 29 and each episode last for 27 mins. i want to watch the episodes on my dvd player. i went to vcdhelp.com and i had to d/l like 5 programs and the guide for converting divx to vcd was useless b/c my pc is slow. i did some research on the web and found this:

is this info legit or do i have to d/l other programs?

Yes Nero is "legit" but much like TMPGenc it will convert the divx files to mpeg-1. So you won't save much or in fact any time.

Furthermore, many people have had problems when converting vcd's with NERO. A popular choice is to convert with TMPGEnc and then simply burn with NERO or VCDEASY.

so nero just turns the divx to mpeg-1? i thought that mpeg-1 cannot play on dvd players.

NERO takes or converts a file to mpeg-1 and then burns it as a "vcd". A vcd is a specific "type" of mpeg-1 file with a fixed resolution, bitrate, etc... that can be played on many (although not all) dvd players.

It should. However, I would recommend you convert to mpeg-1 with TMPGENc and burn with NERO only.

For more information on your dvd player consult vcdhelp.com "dvd players" section. You might find some helpful comments/reviews of other owners of your player.

It is not that much whether your DVD player is VCD-compatible that s important (most are).

What matters more is: is your DVD player CDR-compatible? VCDs that you buy from a shop are a different animal from VCDs that you burn on your computer, therefore your DVD player needs to be compatible with the medium you write them on (CDrs).

Here s a little trick for you: if your DVD player cannot read the VCDs you burn, try burning them using a CDRW instead of a CDR. It may work, even on older DVD player models.

              Cheers
