sounds a silly question, but how do i remove my audio codecs from my video codecs list. because when i select the codec then press remove, they all get removed from the list, so i press 'ok' then leave that menu. but when i check back they are all back again, even after restarting my computer everytime.
Can't find Xvid codec in Virtualdub

Hard way to remove stuborned codecs....
Well if the soft way was failed. Then you can try the hard way.
Just open your registry file (RegEdit), and go to this section :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaResources\
You will See there are sub folders called 'acm' and 'icm'
acm = Audio Compression Multimedia in this sub folder will content all Audio Codecs list that you should have.
icm = Image Compression Multimedia in this sub folder will content all Video Codecs list that you should have.
You can add/move/delete the content list.
Hope this can solve your problem........My Foot Print...Comment

When i whet to where you said there was no 'acm' sub-folder, but there was an 'icm' one. this only showed two codecs (huffy and divx).
but any how, I went to the link Khp posted and this solved my problem, all codecs now show up in virtualdub.
thanks alot for you time alcsskid, strange that one little problem caused so much frustration!!
And thanks alot to Khp for his post, Im all smiles againComment
