    Splitting Files

    Quick question..

Can u split files in the ripping process, to predefined sizes, say around 700mb to fit on a 80min cd

The only other thing that ive seen is actually splitting files after a predetermined time in seconds....

    Split DVD Rip

I had a similar question so I thought I would add to yours.
I am using SmartRipper2.5/FlaskMPEG V0.594 to create my DVD "back ups" and was wondering if there was any way to split into two files so as to fit 2 CDs as you want to. I haven't even found the time method you mention. Could you provide details?
    Thanx

There's no point making more work for yourself by splitting your file at the encoding stage, it's much easier to make the file all at once and then use a program like VirtualDub or AVIChop to split the file. This way you get to specify how big you want each segment to be. I often make DivX's with VERY high quality, and they very often require 3 CD's! AVIChop is ideal for this purpose, ie on a 1.7GB file, split into 3 at 580MB each. AVIChop does sometimes stop certain segments of films playing but this is easily solved by doing a direct stream copy through VirtualDub. I use WinXP, so situations may be different for yourselves.

      Good Luck!

lol i just cant help calling virtual dub no video editor, i just always had problems with the audio synchronisation.

i use dvdx to make mpeg1, mpeg2 or divx files directly from the dvd and there i can tell the prog to split the file when reaching ... MB!
