Settings for TMPGen ntsc>pal wide screen

What settings should I use to make a Pal vcd for a divx movie:

    Frame rate: 23frames/sec
    576x256

I would like to make the vcd in wide screen format and burn it in Nero.

    Hi there.

What to do is to load the file in TMPGENC, select the vcd/svcd template. Then in the settings option, goto advanced tab and in the source aspect ratio, select the appropriate option (4:3 PAL or 16:9 PAL or NTSC, what ever your region format is) and encode the movie. After this, load nero and select the vcd/svcd wizard. Drag and drop the file in the template and burn your movie. It should be playable on a standalone DVD player.

    Hope this helps

          Still having problems....

Please can you help me figure this out....

The movie I have is Bridget Jones Diary....frame rate 23, resolution : 576x256

I want to make the vcd in pal, but maintain the wide screen (16:9) format.

When I load the file, should I use the pal or ntsc vcd template?( or can I do it manually?)

          In the advanced mode what should I select for the source? ( 1:1;
          pal 16:9 ; or ntsc 16:9 )

I should choose center (custom size 576x256 ?)

          and I choose audio 41000, 224 bit

Sorry to be a bother, but whenever I choose a template, the screen automatically goes from wide to 4:3 when encoding begins.
The only way that the wide screen format is maintained is when I select:
          video:
          size 576x256
aspect ratio: 16:9 pal(dont know if this should be ntsc)
frame rate: 25 (dont know if it should be 23)

          Advanced:
          source VGA 1:1
          centre custom (576x256)

When I make the vcd in Nero, it will play in wide screen format on my PC but I cannot keep the wide screen when I play it on my tv.
I have tried to convert the avi directly from nero and it maintains the aspect ratio, however the quality is great at first but then goes bad.

I have made other vcds from mpgs and they have the wide screen format on the tv. (This is my first time converting divx avi to vcd however!!)

Sorry this is such a long reply , but it tis hard to explain in few words.

          Thanks

no no no no, no trouble at all, I understand.

Use NTSC (16:9) Keep the same res if you want (or use VCD rules which can be found on vcdhelp.com)

if your country uses 25fps then use 25fps otherwise use 30fps.

            use the pal template.

everything else is/should be fine (I HOPE!)

Good luck and please let me know how you got on.

            Thanks

              I did it!!!

Thanks to you and some trial and error (thank god for rewritables!!), I figured it out!!

              Settings:

              Video:
              size: 352x288
              Aspect ratio: 4:3
              Frame rate: 25

              Advanced:
              Source:4:3pal
              Full screen(aspct ratio 2)
              576x256

              Audio:
              4100
              224bit

              Mpeg vcd system

By using these settings , Nero was able to make the wide screen view on my tv.

Thankyou for your help and time.
