How do I fix an XviD movie?

I was watching a movie encoded with Xvid (the ring), and in the middle of it - the picture froze but the sound kept on playing.

Is there a way to fix this problem? I could of course just skip that part. However I wanted to convert it to vcd (with subtitles) using virtual dub and it stopped right where the picture froze giving me this error: error decompressing video frame 51253: an unknown error occured (may be corrupt data).

So is there a way I can fix that? Please?

Search for "DivFix", it will repair any corrupt frames which you might have.
Did you know you can SEARCH the forum? Fixes common problems too:

      But it doesn't work.

on one movie (encoded with divx) after I opened the file and clicked "strip index" it said: "Can not open the file".

on the movie encoded with xvid it said: "i/o error 103"

Make sure that the file you're trying to open isnt in use in any other programs. Also, click "rebuild index", not strip index.

          Is it the dvd screener?

I have problems with that file to. Do you have the dvd screener vesion of the ring?
The first part encoded fine (to VCD) the second part crashes at 24 %.
DivFix could do nothing to solve it. Did you have any luck?

          Mike

This thing just cut movie till part with bad frame and rest of it.....I don't know where it disappeared.....the question....mmm....is it gone forever. Is this thing store pieces somewhere? Can I retrieve it? Man, I was looking around to fix my file for couple days. Looks like I fixed it.... it was pretty fast.......What I did wrong?
