Hi, I got a small problem, I have about 250 DBZ episodes i wana re-encode. The only way i can do this is in batch processing mode, isnt it I can do it with virtual dub 1.3c cause some of the DBZ's have this asf thing. Now the problem is that the Virtualdub crashes all the time, gives me errors like -100 and -2 it sais it is because of the source (although i can convert the files with other software, it just doesnt work with virtualdub) Now has anyone got any other software that does process a bunch of files after each other? (I just wana encode all 250 episodes in divx format, without having to do it by hand for every single episode...)

Or is there a way fixing these avis ? (Not DivFix, i got that...)

Wow, that's quite an undertaking...

Why do you want to do all 250 at once? Does it only do this when you add ALL the files, or does batch mode just not work at all?

I wouldn't suggest doing all 250 files in a row... lol... Just re-add them to the queue everyday, like 5 eps at a time. I imagine they're all gonna use the same settings, so it's not like you're "doing it by hand", you're simply adding the episodes to the queue (which is like 10 seconds) as needed.

edit >> not to sound insulting or anything, but do you have any encoding experience? .asf is usually crappy quality as it is, let alone just reencoding it to divx.

TMPGEnc has batch encoding and can output to AVI but has it's limits. Will accept asf too.

Yeah, i got a lot of experience.... but i usually use flask with avi plug... anyway, I gota convert the asf cause my portable player cant play them... and this is only supported up to version 1.3c of virtualdub. Anyway,, Virtualdub works fine but with certain movies it has some probs, so it encodes the movies in the batch modus, until it comes to one of these and then it completly stops, it doesnt just leave it out or something, that is the problem, why i wana encode all of them at the same time? cause i got 2 pentium 4 2.7 Ghz parallel working and it takes my like 3 minutes for one episode.... that is why... So yeah, il try the new prog you told my about, thx, i know it, used it to make vcd's about 4 years ago thx for the tip, do you guys have any other suggestions?

Interesting is that TMPEG has no problems with the files where virtualdub crashes, but I cant encode to divx with tmpeg can `?????

TMPGEnc uses DirectShow......same as your windows media player while VDub uses VFW (Video for windows)

That's why it can open your asf files ok.
You can encode to DivX no problem.
File/Output to file/AVI and choose you codec and settings.

Do dual's help THAT much with encoding? I was thinking about getting a dual board, but couldn't think of anything I'd use it for.

If you get a pretty big boost in fps then I just may have to look further into it

One problem is that you would need to select each one, one at a time. One good thing is if there is an error with an encode, it will continue with the next one in the batch (as far as I remember)

Add your video source to TMPGEnc and set the output too.
Then from "File/add current project to batch/AVI file"

Any cropping is done in the setting(bottom right)

ok, thx for the tip, the thing is, i cant use that... I need some software which does everything automatically, like virtualdub... Is there any possible way, any program except virtualdub that does batch processing encoding to divx?

It would be the same with VDub.
Your gonna be adding the files one at a time anyway.
I don't know of any other app which is different.

And yes, TMPGEnc DOES do batch encoding to DivX, or any other codec.

Ok with virtualdub you can create job lists using a prog, so you dont have to put in every single one.... I can do the same for TMPEG, but for TMPEG i need a template (like one to create a vcd, or whatever) but this time it has to be one that encodes to divx, now how can i create such a template?????
