First I recommend downloading the Tsuanmi 3.9.9 Codec/filter pack from UncasMS's web site or just do a google search

To change Xvid to DivX and vice versa with VirtualDub do this

    Open up VirtualDub
Open up the file from the "file" drop down list
Click on Audio at the top - Then click Direct Stream Copy
Click on Video at the top and choose "Full Processing Mode"
Click on Video again and click Compression
    Choose the Codec you want
The from the "file" drop down list click Save as AVI

    Hope this works for ya

Yes you get to choose any video codec that you have installed on your computer...

As for the time it takes, it varies on how long you video is. I would suggest if it is like a movie about 700MB I would start it up at about 10 then let her run all night and that will be PLENTY time

Just convert all of your movies first before uninstalling XVid. If not you will get blank movie result (Virtual Dub can't decode your source movie).

there 2 different divx codecs to choose from

                Divx MPEG-4 3917 Fast
                Divx MPEG-4 3917 Low

                which is the right one?

use DivX 5.0.2, its better quality than Divx 3.11
