Need to Converter Xvid-Vite to VCD , problems...

Ive downloaded a few different encoders to convert the Xvid files.

I convert a small part of the file and check its quality. It looks fine but there is no sound. Is sound converted last or do I need to do something different?

Im trying to convert these files into a CD format that will play on my DVD players. Once I am able to convert these files how do you break them up so they fit on 700 mg 80min CD-Rs?

Any suggestions would be great. I am a Video Newbie here and need some help. Thanks

I also found a video error where it will lock the video but the audio still plays.

according to Virtual Dub there is an audio problem where it wants to use a different format or something so its more compatible. 10 mins in it locked up. Seems there is a video error. I am playing the entire file now, and I got around the error by jumping past it. Seems to be a few frames long.

How do I go about correcting this aspec of this project? Thanks :O)

Sounds like you might be dealing with AC3 audio there....

Try using a program called "Goldwave" or similar .wav extraction program to get the compression away from the audio. Goldwave is available to download on the net on a free trial basis so get it from a google search or something.

Its easy to use just open the avi and then go FILE > SAVE .WAV

Its easy.

After that use vdub to get the video source without the audio by going AUDIO > NO AUDIO then save .avi (I normally fast recompress the video stream to Divx 5.02)

Once you have the 2 seperate files I would put a few minutes worth together again in VDUB to check for Sync problems. If they are out of sync in the test then you need to skew the audio which VDUB can manage ok.

( AUDIO > INTERLEAVING )

Hopefully you get it to work from that........

For the aspect ratio just select "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)" in the tmpgenc Aspect Ratio box.

i have amassed a backlog of xvid format avi`s
that were frustrating me with the same problem
solved it here by upgrading to the latest nero release and using the express feature works a treat!!!!
just got my processor back its been working flat out for 3 days
shifting the backlog
