    Newbie needs clerification about interlaced and so on...

    Can somebody tell me what interlaced, de-interlaced and progressive means?

    In still kinda new to encoding too but, hopefully some of this info will help. Interlacing is a method of smoothing out video in some dvds. but interlaced video causes problems when you attemp to convert the video to avis. Often times it leaves these lines when things on the screen move some what quickly. looks kinda like little teeth in the path behind the moving object. deinterlacing in a sense, is the process of removing those lines when you encode the video. There are a couple different ways to deinterlace a video and which ever one you pick will have its good qualities. cant help you out any more then this.
