    Problems with DivX5.04

    Hi!
this is the first time i post something, but i'm not a newbie for divx conversion (relatively , anyway these are the problems:

1)i just tried to convert some movies (DVD, Mpeg and AVI) using the multipass of DivX5.04 with VirtualDub, FlaskMpeg and TMPGEnc, but if i check "Write MV file" in the 1st pass (the directory was "real"), well....it doesnt work (only the log file is created)

2)using TMPGEnc (converting a Divx4 low motion AVI) i can't do the nth pass (the codec can't be used fore some reason" or something like that). The resolution was standard and the log file was created with no problems as i always did with 5.03 so the problem is only the codec.

    Help, please!

    Use virtualdub instead!!

Divx above 5.0.2, doesn`t work with TMPGEnc..
Try using virtualdub instead of TMPGEnc to encode DivX movies, set the codec to "nth pass-first pass" for the first encoding process, after that encode again with the codec set to nth pass.

Well, that's not true at all....divx 5.03 works perfectly (relatively...) with TMPGEnc, the problem is only with the new version.

I use VirtualDub, it's almost perfect, but, when i wanna erase imperfections of a movie (expecially converting asf and realmedia files), the VD filters (smart smoother, 2d cleaner, etc) can't give such good results as the "noise filter" of TMPG.

for everything else it seems that 5.04 gives better quality than the previous version, have you already used it?

        You are Right!!!

Tried TMPGEnc again yesterday, and yes it did work with 5.0.3, must have done something wrong last time... dunno what.
But I normally only use TMPGEnc for SVCD encoding...
DivX 5.0.4 do seem to give better quality, and i`ll definetly use it in the future.. Havn`t tried the EKG thou..

Thanks for the hint about the noise filter I`ll Give it a try..
