Getting MPEG movies to play in my DVD player

I have a new DVD player that plays DVDs (audio+video motion pictures), compact disc CDs (audio) and MP3s (audio). I found a site where I can download MPEG music videos. I would like to play them in my DVD player. What do I need to do to convert these MPEG movies into a format that will play in my DVD player? Can I burn these movies onto a regular CD-R? Finally, if I have multiple music videos to burn onto the CD, will they play one after another in the same way as a regular music CD? Sorry for all the questions, but this is new for me.
