    Subtitle recoding

I want to overlay the movie with permanent subtitles. I've installed the plug-in in VirtualDub and everything looks well.
    Now, the question:
The original movie was almost exactly 700 mb. Is there easy way to recode the movie (usin VirtualDub) to exactly the same specs? I'm somewhat ne to the whole process and getting a bit lost with all options of DivX 5.0X...

I'm not sure if it's possible to capture the subtitles
without doing a recompress. Give it a try and tell us?

Set video and audio to direct stream copy.

If it doesn't work, try the other video process modes:
fast recompress, slow recompress, full processing, etc, etc.

If you want permanent subs, you should use Vobsub's SubMux. Just select the movie and the subtitle files (.ssa, .srt, etc) and press Mux. No re-encoding needed.
