Encoding an .avs file in Vdubmod

I captured a mpeg-2 tv rip. I used gknot to create a .avs file, and an MP3 file. Do I just use doom9's guide: http://www.doom9.org/xvid-vdub.htm ?

What is the best way to do this?

BTW, how do I change the bitrate in the 2pass 1st pass setting of the codec? Its stuck on 414.

you don't have to specify a bitrate for xvid encoding - just give the desired file size (Ko) when preparing the 2nd pass.
