Settings and filters for animated movies?

    Hi

I'm having some trouble encoding animated movies. I'm using DivX 5.05 and even with high bitrates (for example 900) and relatively high resolutions i'm getting lousy results, mainly some noise in the borders between different colors. So, what settings do you recommend me? and what filters could i use to correct that after encoding? any Virtualdub filters?

I also read somewhere in this forum that Xvid is somehow better when it comes to animated movies with sharp contrasts of color. Is this true?

Thanx in advance for your advice

AMD Duron at 1GHz, 256MB RAM
    VIA KT133A Motherboard
    ATI RAGE 8MB VRAM

Use a lower resolution. With 900kbps you should use around 512x... You can also use VD's blur-filter too smooth the video a little. I mostly use Nandub with DivX3.11 and it seems to produce better results than DivX5.xx

Why a lower resolution? i used 900kbps and 512 x 384 for a 4:3 movie. Do you think a lower resolution would help?

Use XviD instead. I found it to offer better results (with animated movies) than the DivX 5 and even DivX 3.11 codecs.
