    Wmv & Asf

I have some clips that i would like to join togother which normally is a very easy task with Nandub. However when i drop a WMV file (i think this is the same as an ASF file) into Nandub i receive an error message which states in effect that Microsoft has the patent for this compression blah blah blah and Nandub cannot work with these files.

So after some searching i tried Virtual Dub build 1.3C which apparently does work with these files (before Microsoft threatened i guess) but i received the following error message:"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'WMV2' (unknown).

I have all the codecs for Divx & Xvid processing, could it be that i need additional codecs for the above?

Try to download older ASF/WMV codecs as well as new ones and see what happens

If you want to recompress the WMV or ASF File to AVI, so youse a Freewaretool. Here is the Link :

You should be able to use the "Re-encoder" portion of ASFTools to convert you WMV2 codec-created files to a more flexible format.

WMV2 has nothing to do with "older ASF/WMV codecs" and, as far as I know, Microsoft only makes available a "locked" version of the WMV2 codec (can be used to create files using Microsoft tools - and can be used for playback - but not for processing with any other programs)
