New user: Media Player problem

I am new to Divx in fact I only heard about it for the first time yesterday. I have a website, which uses HTML embedded Media Player AVI files, so that our customers can browse adverts prior to broadcast. I installed a trial of DrDivx and was amazed at the compression we achieved, my PC was able to upload and view the compressed AVIs. So far so good!

Other PC's here, either get Codec errors (Media Player9) or just fail to run the compressed AVI from the web site.

Is there a universal method to force media player to run Divx compressed AVI files or is there a way to embed a Divx player onto a website in HTML?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The other computers will need to have the Divx Codec installed on them as well in order to view Divx files. As for embedding a divx player into a webpage, you'll have to look at the legal implications first.

Btw, I don't think anyone's managed to do that yet... correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, you could install FFDShow, a little nice software for playback of Divx and other files. Or you could obtain the Divx codec from DIVX networks itself.

Downloaded the Codecs and it runs great. I'll just place Divx codecs on the web site for customers and job done. Thanks for your help. Still cant believe that Divx compresses so much. We use slide wipes without audio, so compression rate is huge e.g.
180MB AVI - 5MB DIVx incredible!
