I am actually currently making a guide on how do achieve the qualities I get and how I do it because everyone, like yourself, is asking me. I am nearly finished re doing my world breaking video so I am looking for a server for people to download it.

P.S The problem with 9999kyframes is that if I do full screen, the lines are on the screen, vertically.

I'd really hate to say this, but from my encoding experience I have never seen that kind of defect. I took a look at my Shrek rip that I did last week and didn't notice such a thing (videostream = 388 megs @ 640x352 at 23.97 fps fast motion 100 crisp) on that encoding when I fullscreened it.

Near-DVD-Quality is very much depending on the viewers opinion. Sometimes even a 320x240-Divx with 15fps and 600kbps-video can look good enough to watch it on a 17"-monitor. Using the right filters before encoding may help a lot with that. For DVD-like quality I always use Low-motion with more than 1000kbps and a width of 640.

high quality with the fastmotion 3.11 codec? I tried that too. But its not possible. Maybe with some flashy colorrich clips, but certainly not with every movie. some (most) will look really bad, no matter how high the maxbitrate is set.

Best results (for ALL movies) with the 3.22 (with the scenechange detection patch!! you must use it!) codecs are reached with the 2pass methode. I used the TNG methode for a while, but there may be better systems for that now. I had to encode the movie 2 times. 1 with the low- and 1 with the highmotion codec. Then the TNG program made them two into one. after that i had to add the sound. With this methode you get the best from both codecs!

Anyway i use 4.11 and Xmpg now and the results are... no, CAN BE really great. But i found out its not all working great out of the box... But i stick with it i think.

Yeh, I completly agree about the movies and yes, I prefere 3.22 as well for movies. But the way I do it is near DVD quality. Just wait for the guide my friends. Thanks
