    I'm still looking for a fast, high quality, VOB to MPEG converter that will let me specify the output resolution.

      This thread's probably died a death but just in case

      You're right Gummy, you can't just convert the VOB file extension to mpeg, though try telling that to Quicktime Pro, which will play A/V fine, try dumping the file into an MPEG editor and it crashes so these software programs must do something else to the program to convert VOB to MPEG.

      YAS VOB to MPEG converter will do the job but there is quality loss. I dispute any claim that these software programs convert lossless, that's why changing the file extension seems like a better idea at first.

      What I'm starting to think is chop the VOB file first using a VOB splitter then rejoin if need be then running the VOB through an MPEG converter. At least this way you're cutting the native footage first before conversion.
