Encoding an AVI makes second half low res

    Hi,

I just encoded a standard 2-hour movie with Gordian Knot. Since I wanted to use 5.1 AC3 sound, I made the movie 1 GB in size (including video and audio). The movie finished encoding, and the first half is perfect. Great quality video, great audio. However, the second half from about 1h22 mins on is really blocky low res video.

I have made loads of movies before but always limited them to either 1 700 MB file or 2 700 MB files. This is the first time I have tried to make a single 1GB file (as I just bought a DVD burner, I don't have to limit myself to 700 MBs any longer). It seems that Gknot did the first 700 MBs perfectly, and the last 300 poorly. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    R.

Then why bother making .AVIs any longer? Use DVD Shrink (freeware), or all the following are commercial) DVD2One, DVD95Copy, Pinnacle InstantCopy to duplicate/compress your DVDs?
