XVID, MPEG layer 3 to VCD- audio sync problem

I've done many searches and cannot find a solution that works.

I have an XVID with MPEG layer 3 sound. I want convert it to VCD. I always get audio sync problems.

I've tried stripping the audio out with Virtualdub (to a WAV) then combining it into the video, tried keeping the audio and video in seperate files in TCPGEnc, still audio sync problems. Tried altering audio gap correct in TCPGEnc about 50 times, still audio sync probems.

    Please help!

if the AVI is already in XVID and your trying to convert in TMPGEnc chances are its not going to work.

From what i know TMPGEnc only handles raw AVI files (uncompressed).

Decompress the AVI to raw format then try it in TMPGEnc.
