issues with avi to mpeg conv

hello everyone.. I'm having trouble converting a downloaded avi file into mpeg... I'm using TMPEnc, the problem is that there's a brief glitch on my source avi where the video freezes and the audio keeps going.. you fastforward it a tiny bit in the media player and the rest of the movie is fine, but when TMPEnc encounters the small glitch spot it freezes and stops converting to mpeg. I was wondering if there is any remedy for this?

    cheers

Your avi seems to have one (or more) bad keyframes.

You should try to fix it with something like DivFix before converting or note down where the movie freezes, go to virtual dub, cut the movie in two removing the bad part, glue it together again and then converting.

Anyway you will loose the part that's bad. I dont think there is a way to recover it.

When downloading if your prog has a backtrack option always have it on. I have it for something like 10Kb.

    Cheers

      1) Load the .AVI file (DivX-compressed or otherwise) into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod

      2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"

      3) Select "Check for errors"

      4) Select "Mask bad frames"

      5) Save with a new filename

      Working...
