AVI codec

I want to burn video's and movies, I run windows 98se and use Nero, what codec for avi files do I need and how do I get them. I can now burn mpg and mpeg files. Can I just add the codec for avi and be able to burn all 3 file formats or will it mess the mpg and mpeg?

I'd suggest that you click on the link to "DivX Digest" near the top of this page - and read some of the excellent tutorials...

You seem to cross something. Burning videos is like burning any other data. You don't need a codec, you need Nero and a cd burner. But, if you want to burn a VCD or SVCD with Nero, you can use an AVI as source. Nero will re-encode it to MPG. Well, that' s possible, but not recommendable, since it produces bad quality.
There are others softwares which do that far better.
