    VirtualDub compress problems...

I wonder what's the problem... Let me explain :

First, I have captured a video from my VHS of about 20 minutes long... I captured it using VDub ( the new one at divx-digest ) using Divx4 Codec and letting the audio at PCM 44hz/16bits ... This worked fine...

Now I'm reopenning this captured file and try now to compress the Audio with Radium MP3 ( others will make the same problem anyway ) so I don't think the audio compressor is the problem here...

To do that I put the Video in Direct Stream Copy and I put the audio in Full Processing Mode and set the Compressor to Radium...

When I start the "Save to AVI" option, it ALWAYS run 'till 9995 frames... after that it locks .... Any Idea ?!? If I cut my movie by saving with "segmented AVI" less than 9995 total, it works fine... but it's really LONG !!

Please help me on that point!!

Oh another little question... how to remove the bad tracking lines on a captured VHS video ?!!?? What filter to use if there's any ? I'm a newbie for theses thing so if anybody can help, I wanted to backup my old VHS before they become too used to be viewed.

    Thanx a lot!

"how to remove the bad tracking lines on a captured VHS video ?"

If you're referring to static in the lower overscan portion, as long as it's on a black bar you can simply crop (increments of 8 pixels) it using VirtualDub's nul filter.

Maybe you can give a more detaild description of what happens.
How big (in MB) is the resulting file if you are saving with "segmented AVI"? What do you mean with "but it's really LONG !!"? What format (width, hight, framerate, Pal/NTSC) do you use for capturing. How big is the captured file? What OS are you using - Win98?
      don't trust in guides

        Here's the infos

Ok well, I capture my VHS anime movie (NTSC) with VirtualDub's Capture AVI ...(I'm on Windows XP with a P3-450) I choose my 2 compressors (audio and video ) to PCM and DivX 4 at a bitrate of 575 (size : 320x240). After the capture this file is approx. 322 Megs... (approx. 90 megs of video and 230 megs of audio) ...

It's when I try to re-open this AVI file and try to compress the audio with Radium that there's a problem.. It seems that the freeze at 9995th frame isn't constant... I applied filters after that and it didn't freeze .. Everything went okay..

I think that this is only while trying to compress the audio from PCM to MP3 that the encoding froze at 9995... I have a total of 36502 frames and the movie is an japanese anime (Candy Candy) of 20 minutes ...

When I told you about the segmented AVIs, sorry I made a mistake on the save processing... I had to separate my AVI into several little avi files ( less than 9995 frames ) to make Virtual Dub compress the audio with success... the output little files size seems to be okay since after compressing all the files I joined them into 1 AVI ( and that worked fine! ) for a total of 120 Megs AVI file.

Thanx for helping me! If you need other infos, ask me!
