What software have you tried.

Ive tried TMPEGENC and VIRTUADUB.
I now have an app to recompress to avi but this isnt ideal because of quality loss.......

Its not worth compressing again avi.
Avi is a compressed format and no matter what program you use you will loose alot of quality.If you want a video to VCD use pinnacle instant copy and you will have an option to set a compession ratio.

To gain more quality n increasing by little the size convert to SVCD.
