    encoding avi with tempgenc

I recently got a new machine and had to reinstall everything. I think i have all the codecs but when I try to play an avi in windows media player or try to encode it with tempgenc Its all green now. I can view it just fine with videolans player, vlc but everwhere else its green. This making me nuts. Any suggestions?

(if I remember correctly)vlc uses it's own codecs to play video files, this would explain why your file plays in vlc but not WMP. Use Avicodec or Gspot to see if the proper codecs are installed. Even if they are you might have to reinstall them. Or you could use FFDshow

try increasing the direct show, AVI VFW and AVI OPENDML priorities to a higher level in the environment options > VFAPI plug in in TMPGEnc

d/l Avicodec and load your video file into it. Avicodec will tell you what codec you need and if it's installed on your system.
