Divx to DVD out of sync

Whilst Encoding a Divx movie to mpeg2 (DVD) using TMPGenc the finished file is out of sync.

I have tried demuxing the file then muxing them back together but no help.

The original divx file is in perfect sync.

Can any one help...

You can resynch the MPEG2 file as follows:

1) Load it into TMPGEnc

2) Set mode to "MPEG-2" (NOT "SuperVideoCD")

3) From under the "Advanced" tab, put a checkmark next to and then double click on "Source Range"

4) Enter an appropriate positive or negative amount of milleseconds (thousandths of a second) next to "Audio gap correct"

5) Save with a new filename

I've had a similar problem that I've been researching. I'm not sure if this is the same problem as Yimsy2k is having or not. I take the divx file (with ac3 audio) and used virtualdub (nandub actually) to rip out the video and audio separately.

I then used a tool called BeSweet to convert the audio to MP2 format. When I use TMPGEnc to join the audio and video the resulting MPG file has sync problems.

The audio starts off just fine.. but after about 5 or so minutes I can notice that the words arent quite going with the lips. By the end of the clip (about an hour and a half) the audio is off by well over a second.

I've researched this and found one person who says the fix for this is to load the audio into a sound program (like soundforge) and find a spot where the audio is off.. and just readjust the sample rate based on how far its off.

I find it hard to believe this will work.. sure it will fix the audio at that point.. but wont it just get "unsynced" again later?

Any help would be appreciated.

There are two basic corrections for lip sync; linear time-shift where the whole stream is a constant error which can be corrected for example in VirtualDubMod by shifting the stream .. or ..

sample or bit-rate where the stream progressively gets worse due to the video and audio running at different speeds.

I hope this explanation helps. Unfortunately I have had no experience in adjusting sound streams.
