Divx to DVD File Sizes - a couple of questions :)

Hiya, I'm pretty new to the MPEG-2 encoding scene having only recently got a DVD burner, and I have a question.

I have some DVDs playable in my Region 2 DVD player of a series, encoded into DVD format by someone else.

I would now like to do this myself with some more, but I see on the DVDs I have (encoded by someone else from DivX files) they have 13-14 episodes on ONE DVD. The original source files are XviD and DivX encoded, between 170 and 220 mb per episode.

What sort of quality settings would I need to set for the converted MPEG-2 files to get this sort of number onto one DVD? Is it even possible using tools like TMPGenc or CCEB?

[edit] I forgot my second question!

When trying to convert to MPEG from DivX I get a "Read Error" from TMPGenc... so I can't actually encode anything either

    thanks for any help!

    hi there! welcome

read my guide(s) - click on my sig hope that helps

as for the episode guide - it depends on how good the quality is and what your aiming for and how well it has been compressed, the type of video etc.. its a matter of experimenting unfortunatly!

as for the read error - make sure u have enough HDD space, the correct codecs installed

you may also wish to increase the filters in the options > environment settings > VFAPI plugin in TMPGEnc

let me know if there is anything else you would like to know, or are unclear of!
