    Complete loss of sound..?

    Hi,

I only really encountered XviD today. I figured I'd attempt to burn off a couple of movies my friend gave me on file to VCD.

After reading a few posts in here I've got the codec working, and infact I managed to convert the file from XviD *avi to mpeg (1, pal vcd) using TMPGenc, however, for some reason, there is no sound attatched to the file, and yes, audio source was selected as the original file as it should be in tmp. Does anyone know how to combat this?

Also, incidently, the output file was around 3gb; which equated to around 5 hours, when the film was only one hour forty or so... the rest of the file after the movie (which encoded fine visually) was just black, playing, but nothing on screen.

Does anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated if you can help.

    Thanks.

Load the original Xvid/AVI into VirtualDubMod (or any variant program of the regular Virtual Dub). Go to "File" > "File Information" and post what is listed in both the video and audio sections of the dialog box, or post a screen capture.

Your audio is Mp3 (tag: 0x0055). Convert the audio with VirtualDubMod to an uncompressed Wave file. Do the following:

        1. Go to "File" > "Open Video File"

        2. Go to "Video" and select "Direct Stream Copy"

        3. Go to "Streams" > "Streams List". Right-click at the top of the dialog on the audio stream where it says: “Desc: Mpeg Audio Stream” and select "Full Processing Mode". Click OK

        4. Go back to "File" > "Save As" (F7) with a new filename.

Then Open TMPGEnc and import you’re newly created AVI file and proceed to convert it to mpeg 1 (VCD).
