Please help converting Real Media to Divx?

    Hi all,

I have this real media video file i want to convert to divx, mainly because i dont like the ads and load of junk you get when you install any "real media" software. So if you know of any tools/guides (hopefully similar to gordian knot) that might be of use, please let me know.

    Thanks

If you have the Real Media file completely download and it’s not a link to a streaming version, try and use "AVSVideoConverter". Go here:

It seems that VideoConverter only converts to RM format.

"Unfortunately it's impossible to convert from Real Media into any format because *.RM is an encrypted format by it's developers. We can only read it and convert into RM from any other supported formats."

However, Real7ime Converter converts RM to AVI. And it's free

          To digidragon:

To your knowledge, will Real7ime convert Vivo files to AVI? (since Real Media now owns the Vivo format)

            To ziadost"

If you have no success with "AVSVideoConverter", there is a program called TINRA that might work, although I've heard it can produce erratic results.

              wow what quick replies

yeah i heard about the program tinra on the divx digest web site... seems that the quality will almost definately be degraded because it encodes in "realtime" or something. but i will give the avs video converter a go when i get home.

I don't know for sure, but I think it will only accept *.RM files.
