            mainconcept vs tmpgenc

            Hello all.

I've used MainConcept MPEG Encoder and TMPGEnc for VCDs (more like experimentation lately to determine the better encoder).

MainConcept seems to generate alert results (in vdub) while TMPGEnc is fine. I used 2 vdub windows on top of each other to compare quality between the 2 encoders.

MC seems to make the image softer and brighter, while TMPGEnc seems to leave the image as is.

I've gone thru the 'best' settings for myself in TMPGEnc, but what are the 'best' settings for a standard VCD in MainConcept?

Also, using vdub, MC seems to add about 20 frames to the end of the mpeg, which I don't think it's supposed to do.

Could someone with experience work me thru these two encoders or just straight up state which one you think would be better for the best possible VCD (and state settings )?

Thanks for any replies. Used TMPGEnc for a while, beginner with MainConcept.

              Hello reboot,

" The best DVD is from Canopus Procoder ".

Sorry to contradict reboot, the best is incontestably CCE 2.70 pro.

I spent a mad time to compare these two software of conversion video.
Canopus procoder 2 against CCE 2.70 pro.
It is not the same thing and I can tell it to you.

In one pass vbr, canopus procoder 2 is behind.
In mode 2 VBR pass: canopus (guaranteed optimization) delivers a very good quality.
But cce goes again farther as regards to the pictorial palette: a faithful picture (precise), honest (clarity) contrary to procoder 2; picture little precise and lack of sharpness in the pictorial restitution.

With regard to the format mpeg1, I prefer tmpeg.
The method of Kwag, Mesquita and Johnny gives the best results. (kvcd and kSvcd)
Again, it is by lived experience.
              Alas, I don't make some a mpeg1 more.
I stay late a few more to the encoding high definition.

              It was only a parenthesis.
              Goodbye
