I have not been able to succesfully encode my ripped VOB files to AVI format. I have used DVD2AVI, FlaskMpeg .6 preview, MPEG2AVI. No luck with any of them. In all cases the vobs appear to be converting to avi and after hours the process completes. Whenever I try to play the AVI file afterwards I get an error saying, "Unable to allocate memory because size not set"....Anyone know what the deal with this is?

This is only wild speculation but it sounds like you only did the 'Two-pass first pass', this will create an invalid avi file.
For the best results with divx4.12 u need to do 'Two-pass first pass' and then the 'Two-pass second pass' which will create the real avi file.Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.

But in short the first pass calculates the complexity of every frame and writes this in a log file c:\divx.log by default. The second pass then calculates the average complexity, and from that how many bit to spend on individual frames.Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.
