How to merge subtitles into avis?

I have one divx movie and the corresponding subtitle. I'm trying to make a subtitled VCD out of those two. I know how to use Virtual Dub and TMPG but I can't get the subtitles on the frames itself. Is there any program that transferres the text on to the frames? Thanks...

    You will need:
    1. the subtitler plugin for VirtDub
    2. a srt to ssa converter
    3. a synchronized subtitle

Be sure to have a synchronized subtitle, because the process is irreverable
You can synchronize your subtitles with Subsync.
After this conver the srt file to ssa-format
    The steps:

    1. Open VDub
    2. video ---> filters ---> subtitler filter
    3. select your ssa file
    4. video ---> compression ... (whatever you want -i use MPEG-4 Video Codec)
    5. Save as AVI ...

Now load your avi in TMPGEnc and make a mpg-file out of it

    Burn it as vcd.
(Of course your dvd-player accepts Video CD's)

    Finished

Hey guys, thanks a lot. Just one more thing: Can this subtitle plugin display Turkish characters? Because I did manage to do some of the movie, but some of the Turkish characters didn't come out correct?

since i have made it with hebrew i see no rison why u cant in turkish.
use subtitleditor and when u convert to xxx.ssa format change
the font to the font in turkish and then save.
now u have ssa whith turkish font.
              have fun

Right, I do have the ssa file with the Turkish fonts. Everything is correct on the ssa file. The problem is that the some of the Turkish characters don't come out correctly on the movie. I think it is a problem with the plugin. Any ideas?
