    DVD ripping questions

    Hi

    I'm a newbie at ripping DVD's to a video-file, I have several questions.

    What codec is the best: DivX, XviD or WMV ?

    Is it possible to rip the different audiolanguages to a separate file and play the movie with the audiolanguage we choose (for example separate mp3-files) ?

    Is it possible to keep the dolby 5.1 sound or DTS ?

    Is it possible to rip the different subtitles and play the movie with the subtitle we choose ?

    What program(s) do i best use for it ?

    I'd like to convert my complete DVD-collection, so i can play it with the pc and still use the fascilities of choosing the language. Exept copying the complete DVD to hard, i'd like to find a good solution for it. Copying the whole DVD takes to much place.

      1. I like divx the best, although I'm sure others will argue with me

      2. Yes...if you use Virtualdubmod and morgan stream switcher...you can have multiple audio tracks, just remember if you want to fit it on one CD, more audio tracks means you'll have to reduce the video quality to make it fit on a CD

      3. I'm pretty sure there is, but again, 5 or 6 seperate channels of audio AND make it fit on a CD is next to impossible. Maybe someone might know alittle bit more then me on this one.

      5. Gordion Knot is my favorite and is very easy to use.

          No I really don't need to put them on a CD. I will keep them all on my HD, play them with my pc which is connected to my TV and Bose-system.

          Someone else told me about gordian Knot. Just installed it and started playing with it.

          What is AC3 exactly ? Isn't that a codec that takes the DTS and Dolby 5.1
