when encoding a film the length of the film changes????

hi i am trying to to convert an avi with ac3(5.1) to dvd. i have done this before with no problem by seperating video and audio encoding then joining. with my latest encode attempt (useing tmpgenc) the time of the movie is shorter after encode so the audio is out of sync. please help............

    1) Load the original .AVI video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box
