    Xmpeg 4.2a distorted picture

hiya.....i usualy use flask Mpeg 0.61....but tried using this Xmpeg 4,2a and i like it, except that theoutput picture, no matter what settings looks crap.... where there is movement there is horrible horizontal lines.... i tried tweaking all settings but nothing seems too change.

    Tried with DivX 4.12 & 5.0
    i have made 2 screenshots......

    1 with Xmpeg output
    and the other with flaskMpeg
    (at same settings)

u will see the difference.....i like the way that i can encode straight too mp3 in Xmpeg with no sync problems....but i just hope this bad picture quality can be fixed.

    the screeshots are here
XMPEG Output (notice the crappy Lines)

    FlaskMpeg Out (normal)

    thx

Looks like you are experiencing difficulties with interlaced video.

What is your source _ Interlaced or progressive
Is it a DVD rip and if so What region ie. NTSC or PAL
If it is PAL _ usually the movie has to be deinterlaced.
Xmpeg 4.2a does not have the facility to de-interlace, whereas, FlaskMpeg does. Are you utilising the de-interlace option in Flask. If so _ that is the problem. Don't despair if you like Xmpeg _ moves are on the way incorporating the de-interlace option. You could also try playing around with the Video Bitrate.

    Cheers
