    Help converting

Hi there im a bit of a noob to video conversion so thats why im here... anyway i have an Archos Gmini 400. It is only capable of playing files of up to 640 X 480 resolution. Using the software they supplied i select my options press start, it tries to launch virtual dub but it cant handle the ac3 audio in the file.

    File information..
    720 X 304
    Divx 5.2.1 Codec
    Audio Compression 'AC3- ACM Decompressor'.

I want to convert it to
640 X 272 (is that the right aspect ratio in proportion to 720 X 304)?
    Divx 5.2.1 Codec
    Mp3 audio 128 kbs.

What is the quickest, easiest way to do this? Is their a way to convert just the ac3 audio in the file to mp3, so i can then convert it as normal?
    Thanks for any help

One way to accomplish this would be:

    1) Load the .AVI file into VDUB1.4C-AC3

    2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"

    3) Load your silent .AVI file

    4) From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "WAV or AC3 Audio" - and load your .AC3 audio file

    5) Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"

    6) From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Conversion" - set to 44,100

    7) From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose the MPEG Layer 3 (.MP3) 44,100Hz sampling rate that you prefer

    8) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" - and save with a new filename
