I am just starting to kick around the idea of archiving DVDs to XviD format and possibly watching them over the home network. I am completely new to this concept and am wordering what the opinion of the easiest way to convert from DVD to XviD. Is there one porgram that can handle this task or is it a process that requires 2 or 3 conversions before you get to a XviD format? Thanks in advance.

Sorry about the double post. I wasn't sure if I wanted to convert to DivX or XviD. After doing some research, I think XviD is the way to go since I am starting a new library and have read that XviD is a little quicker with its compression and outputs high quality. I have read many posts, but they all seem to pretty much involve multiple conversions. So let me post a new question....
What would be the best method of converting DVD to XviD with the best quality in the end result? I want to be able to retain the 5.1/DTS tracks (AC3 I think) and have the best possible video quality. Sorry for such newbie ?????, but I am a newbie.
