    hdtv xvid to dvd possible?

newbie question. i've searched the boards and can't find this, so i'm posting here.

i have heard it is possible to have HD DVDs. and it's not like i'm trying to preserve the perfect video and 5.1 audio or anything.

i just have a ton of hdtv xvid tv shows that i would like to burn to dvd and keep as much quality as possible. my tv sucks up here and i would like to be able to play on the kick ass tv/dvd player downstairs.

    thanks,

    jc

also, i've been using tmpgenc 2.51 but the HDTV seems to get lost in the conversion and the video comes out boxed. i've tried 16:9, 4:3, 2.11:1 and pretty much every setting it has, but i always seem to lose the wide HDTV pictures. is there anyway to keep this aspect to burn to dvd?

or should i start running CAT5 cable to the bedroom downstairs?!!?

yes, select "keep aspect ratio 2" in the tmpgenc settings....

thanks. sorry i didnt see that setting. that worked perfectly. although now, i noticed that my audio is not coming through. the xvid was encoded with mp3 audio. the video file that tmpgenc puts out doesn't seem to have any. does mp3 not convert backwards to mp1 or mp2?

        thanks for your help.

          anytime

yes tmpgenc has no beef with mp3 audio.

at the top of tmpgenc click, options>>environmental settings>>vafapi plugin>>>in the list you should see "direct show multimedia file reader" right click it and select "higher priority" you will see it higher in the list, repeat this untill it says "2" or is one digit above anything else.

          this MAY solve the problem

your welcome. i always use that setting. it will never change the appearance of the source file.
