I tried to convert an xvid file(matroska) to a divx format to play on a divx dvd player.I used river past video cleaner and it converted ok except it left out the audio!! I can convert it to mp3 using vdubmod and the lamemp3 codec but how to add it back to the divx file wiout using vdubmod cuz it'll want to save as an avi, ogm,or matroska again.

".AVI" is merely a "container" for DivX, XviD, etc. You certainly CAN use VirtualDubMOD (or any version of VirtualDub, for that matter) to load your silent DivX-compressed .AVI and add an .MP3 audiostream. (Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy")...Last edited by setarip; 30 May 2005, 04:00 AM. -
Ive been trying for a while to play avi's on my philips dvp642/37 and converting the matroska to a divx format has been the only way it will play but the software I used (river past video cleaner)didnt recognize the vorbis audio file.So your saying I can use VDM or any VD to open the divx file and add an mp3 audio and then save as an avi and set to direct stream copy and it'll stay as a divx file?Comment

Yes - If the file you created (by converting the "Matroska" file) is, in fact, a DivX-compressed .AVI...Comment

Awesome it worked!!!! Thanx for all your help once again setarip! Now all I need is to find a freeware program that will convert xvid(mostly ogm and matroska) to divx.River Past leaves an annoying little "watermark" in the bottom corner. If I cant find a freeware I may invest in the full version of this software.Comment
