i have a couple divx movies that i have been trying to get on dvd with no luck. I use tmpgenc , It stops at 97% and says 'stream error'. it leaves a file of nearly 4 gigs with no sound. Anyone know what the deal is here? I have done other movies with no probs.
tmpgenc stream error at 97% of divx to dvd

1) Load the original .AVI video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub
2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"
3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

raise directshow multimedia file reader to "2" if not already done and re-try.
note the source position of the stall, and go back to the original file on your pc and see if there is a noticeable "glitch"..."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

Two possibilities come to mind:
Either an incomplete download or bad frames. To check for and mask bad frames:
1) Load the .AVI file (DivX-compressed or otherwise) into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod
2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"
3) Select "Scan videostream for errors"
4) Select "Mask bad frames"
5) Save with a new filename
