    add black band with AviSynth

I've been trying to script AviSynth to add a black band to the top and bottom of an avi on which I plan to place subtitle. I failed.

I've learnt to add subtitle to avi permanently with VirtualDub and Vobsub filter. Can you help me with the script to add such bands and how to connect the two processes?

    Thanks.

i do not write avisynth scripts often, but there is an option in virtualdubmod's resize filter called "expand frame and letterbox image" that allows you to add pixels to each side (forming 'black bars'), and also choose which colour

EDIT: if you really want to do this through avisynth, here you go: AddBorders(0, 0, 0, 0)

replace '0's with numbers BUT i recommend you use the first method, i've used it, it works flawlessly, and is much easier...
