I've been experimenting with encoding video from a friend's sony DV camera. I have a firewire card and have the DV video in adobe premiere.
There were a few difficulties, such as the video from the DV camera has 32000 hz audio instead of 44khz or 48kz like DVD!
When i went to encode divx 4 through adobe, the result was total crap and it took me a while to figure out it was because it was doing it at 44khz for the sound!
anyway, once i switched it to 32khz it worked fine, and produces some really nice video!
I can't really tell the difference from the original DV video and the DIVX version of it. the only thing i had to do though was click on the "deinterlace" button in the divx 4.11 codec config screen.
