compressing a MPEG to an e-mail size

I am creating movies with pinnacle 8 into MPEGs but a 1.5 min movie is ending up at 20MB. I used DivX create and got it down to 7 mb but that is still too large to e-mail. My other movies are almost an hour long. I know these kinds of files can be shrunk because I get them in my e-mail. How do I accomplish this.

What resolution is the pix? Reduce them to smaller screen and you should be a lot better.

Also, what bitrate have they been encoded at? If you have smaller vid, you can lower the bitrate to SVCD levels of around 1200 kbps.

i think this has been misworded blu , it sounds like you're saying resolution affects file size

zibo, as blu said, reduce the bitrate, as well as resolution so the picture isn't too blocky. how small do you need it?

you'll have to forgive me as I am new to this.
How do I lower the bitrate? Is that done in pinnacle when I make the movie,
or in DivX when I am compressing it?

I would like to have it around 5-6 mb tops.

you lower the bitrate in divx, you should be able to set an output size (in your case 5-6mb) in divx create and it should calculate the bitrate automatically...
