    Mpeg2DivX probs

I'm trying to convert a dark angel episode, that's in mpeg format, to divx.
The problem is that it ends a couple a minutes early=( so virtualdub refuses to open it.
Is there anything I can do? I want to convert it so a can fit two episodes on one cd.
    Plz help me

You may want to ensure that you have the latest version of Virtualdub. I do not believe that virtualdub should have a problem opening up an incomplete mpeg 1 file.

Alternatively, try TMPGEnc and select out put to avi from the "file" menu, be sure to select divx compression (from obscure radio buttons).

"The problem is that it ends a couple a minutes early"

What do you mean by this?

If it's in MPEG1 format, VirtualDub should accept it. If it's in MPEG2 format, VirtualDub will not accept it.

What virtualdub and nandub says is "MPEG import filter: Unexpected end of file"
So it's something wrong about it that's for sure.

Load the file into TMPGEnc as follows:

          1) File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

          2) Load your MPEG1 file

          3) Set the mode to "plain vanilla" MPEG1 (NOT "MPEG1-VideoCD")

          4) Doubleclick on the filename (which now appears in the window)

          5) Select approximately 2 seconds from the actual file's end to be your new end. Do this by moving the slider to approximately 2 seconds from the end and then clicking on the right bracket ("}")

          6) Click on "OK". This will bring you back to the initial screen

          7) Enter a new filename in the "Output" box

          8) Click on the "Run" radio button

This should result in a file with a "clean" (proper) EOF

          Let us know of your success ;>}
